With a healthy, but not huge, campaign war chest, a spokesman for Congressman Mike Ross (D) tells Talk Business the retiring representative will return all individual contributions and some corporate money.

Ross raised $81,364 in individual contributions in the second quarter of 2011 and $343,719 from non-party PACs (political action committees) and other committees, according to his latest FEC report.

He spent $154,313 during the quarter ended June 30 and finished with cash on hand of $319,172.

"While Federal Election Commission laws do not require it, Congressman Ross plans to refund all individual contributions that have been received for the 2012 election. He just thinks it’s the right thing to do," said Dustin Smith with the Mike Ross for Congress Committee.

Smith said that Ross planned to retain PAC contributions that were received for the primary election, but return PAC money designated for the general election.

"The Mike Ross for Congress Committee plans to retain its PAC contributions that were designated to the primary election, many of which have already been spent on campaign and fundraising  expenses," Smith said. "All PAC contributions designated for the general election will be returned. This is in accordance with the Federal Election Commission rules and regulations."
