CENTERPOINT ENERGY NET CLIMBS 44%

Houston-based CenterPoint Energy reported second quarter net income of $101 million, up 44% from one year ago when profits topped $70 million.  Revenues for Arkansas' largest natural gas utility rose to $2.6 billion for the quarter versus $2.0 billion one year ago.

“I am pleased with the overall performance of our company during the second quarter, particularly in a period of high energy prices,'' said CenterPoint CEO David McClanahan.  “Our utility operations turned in solid performances, and our pipelines and field services businesses continue to benefit from our previous investments and the continuing high levels of drilling activity in the mid-continent area driven by the strong demand for natural gas.''
