Another installment of our Talk Business Quarterly Poll, which you can read in its entirety here, analyzes Gov. Mike Beebe’s popularity and job performance. The Governor saw a slight slip in his favorable ratings in October to 71% versus 77% in July. However, a closer analysis shows that Beebe did pick up gains in those who find him “strongly favorable” or “strongly unfavorable.” This appears to mirror a trend seen in Lincoln’s and Obama’s poll numbers where voters have shifted from “somewhat” favorable or unfavorable to a “strongly” favorable or unfavorable position. Beebe’s job performance number were virtually unchanged during the quarter, 78% (July) to 79% (Oct.), but again, there was a huge shift in his numbers from somewhat favorable to strongly favorable. In July, 53% “somewhat approved” of Beebe’s job performance and 25% “strongly approved.” In October, 38% “somewhat approved” while 41% “strongly approve.” Those “strongly approve” numbers shifted a dramatic 16% during the three months. Beebe's negatives remain very low, 15% or lower, depending on the question. You can read more analysis on these questions as well as our full poll, its methodology and media reuse instructions at this link.
