TBQ POLL: BEEBE APPROVAL RATING – 58%

If you haven’t received your first edition of Talk Business Quarterly, our new magazine publication, it’s never too late to get signed up.  Drop me an email at roby@talkbusiness.net and share your mailing address.

In the meantime, we’ll roll out select portions of the magazine through our TV program and web site over the next two weeks.  On this week’s television show, you can see the conclusion of our roundtable discussion with business executives Jim Lindsey of Lindsey & Associates real estate, Arkansas Farm Bureau President Stanley Reed, and Steve Williams, CEO of Maverick USA.

You can also catch the first of three video shorts of our interview with these leaders by clicking here.  In the clip, Jim Lindsey explains how he’s avoided the pitfalls of the current housing crisis.

Today, we also roll out a portion of our poll which rates political leadership in Arkansas.  Global Strategy Group of Arkansas surveyed 608 state voters and found the following conclusions:

  • 58% of those polled approve of Governor Mike Beebe’s job performance.  16% were neutral and 8% had a negative view of him.
  • U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln have favorability ratings of 48% and 43% respectively.  Their negative ratings were 12% and 18% respectively.
  • The Arkansas State Legislature does not suffer the same fate as the U.S. Congress.  The General Assembly is viewed positively by 41% of our polled voters.  24% are neutral and 14% rate the legislature negatively.
  • Attorney General Dustin McDaniel had a 25% to 6% positive vs. negative rating.  Lt. Governor Bill Halter had a 19% positive rating vs. a 6% negative rating.
  • President George Bush fared poorly.  Only 34% of our statewide poll rated his performance as positive.  49% held a negative view of the President.
