3rd DISTRICT DEMOCRAT TO CHALLENGE BOOZMAN

How about a challenger for 3rd District Congressman John Boozman?  The Rogers Republican may have a Democratic challenger if Iraq war veteran Larry “Beau” Stricklin, Jr. follows through with his initial interest.

Stricklin tells Talk Business that he plans to form an exploratory committee in the near future and absent a stronger candidate entering the race, he’s in.

“If someone steps up that’s more qualified than me, I’ll let them have it,” he says.

Stricklin (he goes by Beau) is a 6’ 7”, 31-year old native of Hatfield, Arkansas (near Mena), but currently lives in Russellville.  He is married with four children and serves as a logistics officer at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock.

He says he was inspired to run for office after reading Promises Kept by the late Sid McMath.  “I found it personally inspiring to know that military experience and training correlated so well to government efficiency and discipline,” Stricklin said.

What type of candidate might Stricklin be?

“I’m a conservative Democrat and believe that the Republican Party has lost their way in regards to their view on big government, civil liberties, and siding with the people over government and business.  In short, the GOP has lost touch with the American people,” said Stricklin.

One other note of interest: he was born on the 4th of July.  Combined with his military service, he ought to have the patriotism angle down pat.
