When Mike Muccio goes to work, he knows what he does every day has a local and global impact on the environment. That knowledge, and the time he spends learning from some of Northwest Arkansas’ business giants, keep Muccio motivated.

BioBased Industries is a technology and chemical company dedicated to using soy-based oil in its formulas.

Muccio joined the insulation arm of the company in 2003. Two years later he was promoted to his current position.

Sales have increased by 50 percent over 2006.

Along with increased sales, the company now employs 20 in Rogers and has 120 contractors across the U.S. and in four other countries.
Muccio attributes the company’s success to the people in place, as well as the timeliness of its product.

“We have a good product that is the solution to a lot of the issues you see in the news every day,” he said.

Muccio said finding a balance between work and home life is his biggest challenge.

Born in Newcastle, England, Muccio spent his teen years in Arkansas but went to college at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, earning a bachelor’s in business management and marketing in 2000.
